As technical communicators, we’re used to being told we are a support group that doesn’t directly contribute to our employer’s financial success. What if you could change that? What if you could develop documentation that is so good your customers would buy it? What if your documentation could become a major factor in why customers purchase your company’s products? How can you make yourself a company asset by reinventing documentation that is good enough to be a saleable product?

In this presentation, Cheri will talk about ideas such as:

  • The characteristics of content as a business asset
  • Aspects of documentation that prevent it from becoming a company asset
  • The process of remaking content as a company asset
  • Examples of information products that attract loyal readers
  • Strategies for remaking our work products and ourselves as a company asset
