Training

Work Write, Inc. courses and mentoring services offer practical advice on documentation development, writing strategies, information design, and workplace learning. Our comprehensive, “why based” education also covers the authoring tools we use to develop information products for our customers.

Types of training sessions

We provide three types of training sessions:

  • Instructor-led training held at your company’s facilities
  • Instructor-led, web-based training hosted online
  • Mentoring (onsite or web-based): one-on-one or small group education to assist with individual instruction, special problems, and troubleshooting

Instructor

All Work Write, Inc. courses are developed and taught by Cheryl Lockett Zubak (Cheri), president of Work Write, Inc. Cheri also leads all mentoring sessions. Cheri is an internationally known expert and respected teacher on software user assistance and workplace communication.

Research based, but tested in practice

Our courses are based on aspects of research in communication, information design, and learning theory that we have found to result in superior information development, but which also are practical and feasible in the workplace. We keep abreast of the latest research in technical communication and related professions. However, we also conduct our own research to determine best practices, and we stand behind our findings.

Hands-on practice is the core of our courses

You won’t remember what you don’t try for yourself. You won’t learn unless you apply what you’re learning to real problems. All Work Write, Inc. courses make use of case studies and exercises so you can explore aspects of communication through realistic situations. In Work Write, Inc. classes, you will spend a lot of time writing or using the computer application you’ve come to us to learn about. That’s a promise!

Customization

Although all courses are taught from a standard set of Work Write, Inc. materials, all workshops can be customized to meet your specific needs.

Prior to a course, Cheri will speak with you about your processes and requirements. With your permission, she will also review a selection of your current documents to guide the courses she teaches in your workplace. Cheri often makes adjustments to the courses based on these conversations. We do not consider these talks to be customization. We consider them to be good service.

Consulting

We are happy to combine consulting with education to support your projects. We often follow up educational sessions with consulting or development.
